Marine Group Boat Works (MGBW) is one of the Pacific Coast's premier full-service shipyards with locations along the San Diego Bay and in San Jose del Cabo. MGBW specializes in refits, repairs, and new construction of boats up to 220 feet long, serving everything from recreational vessels to military patrol boats, tugboats, and barges.

THE CHALLENGE

With two locations directly on the San Diego Bay, MGBW faces an immediate environmental risk — anything that touches the water must be properly contained to avoid fines and protect the Pacific Ocean. They work with hazardous materials including oil and paint daily, needed a uniform drain protection solution for stormwater compliance, and wanted to replace their traditional clay absorbents with a cleaner, dust-free alternative.

OUR SOLUTION

Spill Bully provided MGBW with oil-only boom to protect against on-the-water fuel and oil spills. They replaced traditional clay "kitty litter" absorbent with Spill Bully Heavy — eliminating both dust and residue from their yard. Spill Bully also provided custom-sized storm drain protection across both San Diego Bay locations.
